THE BEST ACTORS AND ACTRESSESS OF THE BRITISH CINEMA

The British cinema is made up of a lot of actors and actresses that are considered the best not only in Great Britain but in all the world. The British cinema has had very important figures like the famous Charles Chaplin.

Charles Chaplin was born in London in 1889. He was a comical actor, composer, producer, director and writer. He pointed out in silent films. The character who he interpreted was Charlot, by means of it, he reached the fame. He died in 1977 in Switzerland. He became a film legend in the United Kingdom and in all the world.

*Emma Watson: She was born in Paris in 1990. She moved to Oxford when her parents divorced. Since she was six years, she wanted to be actress and ,for a number of years, she trained at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts. By the age of ten, she had performed and taken the lead in various Stagecoach productions and school plays, like ``The Happy Prince´´ in 1999. Later, she would reach the fame with Harry Potter’s films; her character in these movies was Hermione Granger. She has taken part in other films like: The tale of Despereaux, the Perks of being a wallflower, the Bling Ring ,Noah, etc. She has won several prizes with the saga of Harry Potter: Best Performance in a Feature Film – Leading Young, Best Performance by a Youth in a Leading or Supporting Role – Female, Best Female Film Star (Silver), Best Female Film Star (Gold), etc.

*Anthony Hopkins: He was born in 1937 in Gales. He is a very famous actor in all the world. He is known by his interpretation of assassin in the film: ``The silence of the lambs´´. He has worked in almost 100 movies and in various series. He began his cinematographic career due to the influence of Richard Burton and he decided to study at College of Music and Drama. Some of the films where he has appeared are: The Innocent, Juggernaut, The Bunker, The hunchback of Notre Dame, Howards End, Shadowlands, August, Hannibal, Hearts in Atlantis, Red dragon, etc.

He has won a lot of prizes, we can stand out some of them: the Oscar for the best actor in 1991 and the prize of Cecil B. Demille in 2006. Moreover, he has been nominated in several occasions.

*Keira Knightley: She was born in Teddington (London) in 1985. She wanted to be actress since she was a child. She has been considered one of the nicest women in Great Britain. Her first role as protagonist was in the film Princess of Thieves, she will be also the protagonist in films like Pirates of the Caribbean or Pride and Prejudice later, with this last film she was nominated to the Oscar for best actress and she has got a lot of nominations with this movie. In addition, she has worked on other films: The hole, Pure, Love actually, The king Arthur, Never let me go, Last night, etc. She has won some awards too.

  

*Daniel Radcliffe: He was born in Fulham in 1989. He began being actor in television with the film David Copperfield. He became famous thanks to his role as main character in Harry Potter. His cinematographic career would increase due to success of these films. He has earned a lot of money with the role of Harry Potter and we can remember that he was only a child. But he has worked on more films like: The tailor of Panama, December boys, The woman in black, etc.

  *Maggie Smith: She was born in Ilford in 1934. She began her career in Oxford Playhouse School. Later, she worked on David Copperfield and on Downton Abbey where she would get an Emmy. Moreover, she worked on Harry Potter’s films. In 1969 she has won a lot of awards as best actress in films like ``The best years of Miss Brodie´´, California suite; or in series of television like ``Downton Abbey´´ and ``My house in Umbria´´. She has been nominated to other awards in many occasions.

She is considered one of the most important British actress who has a great career within cinema.

*Sean Connery: He was born in Edimburg (Scotland) in 1930. He could never imagine that he would become one of the most important and famous actor in the cinematographic industry. He isn’t only actor but he is director too. He is considered one of the sexiest British man and one of the most attractive figures within the worldwide cinema. He has worked on several films like: The rock, The name of the rose, The untouchables, The hill, Diamonds are forever, Murder on the Orient Express,  Agent 007, etc.

He has won a lot of awards of different categories: he has won an Oscar as best actor in ``The untouchables´´, a honorary BAFTA, a BAFTA as best actor in ``the name of the rose´´ and a golden globe in ``The untouchables´´. Furthermore, he has won other awards (Laurel award, Cecil B. Demille, etc).

He is one of the best British and worldwide actors and of the most known in all the world.

Between all the actors and actresses that we have mentioned, we can emphasize the fact that Emma Watson, Keira Knightley and Daniel Radcliffe are the richest young famous in Great Britain.
