The English
films point out by their economic and historical topics. English cinema has
much influence of American and European cinema. English cinema reached its peak
in 1940 with the productions of J.
Arthur Rank and Alexander Korda. English cinema is made of the best actors and
actresses in all the world.
At the
beginning of the 20th century, British cinema reached its apogee but this
apogee didn’t last a lot of time since British cinema was affected by the
arrive of American cinema. Throughout this century, English cinema experimented
some increases and declines due to the appearance of American films. Much of
the growth was with the help from American financiers, eager to capitalize on
British industry.
In the 19th
century, the first images in movement were created in London in 1889 by William
Friese Greene, just the same year that the most important actor known in
England, Charles Chaplin, was born.
Robert W.
Paul and Birt Acres were the first persons who built and used a camera of film
of 35mm in Great Britain. They created the first British film called Incident
at Clovelly Cottage in 1895. This camera was called Paul-Acres which was
the first done in United Kingdom.
Here, I’m
going to show a graph where we can see the development of British cinema
throughout the 20th century and the 21st century:
